AirAsia is launching a new travel opportunity with direct flights to a city nestled in the Himalayas, renowned for its multiple UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Now, travellers from Thailand can easily reach the peak of the world through the new route from Bangkok (Don Mueang) to Kathmandu, Nepal, beginning with four weekly flights starting on October 2, 2024.
The introduction of this route comes with a special promotional fare, starting from just THB 2,990 per journey. Booking is available from August 12 to August 25, 2024, for travel dates between October 2, 2024, and March 28, 2025.
Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, stated: “AirAsia is always looking to expand its network to exciting destinations, and Nepal is one of the most popular not only among Thai travellers but also visitors from across the globe looking to experience the majestic views, culture, and World Heritage architecture that Nepal has to offer.”
“It is of course a top pick for adventure and mountaineering enthusiasts. With this, AirAsia now connects to 16 destinations in South Asia since resuming nearly full-scale operations after the pandemic,” he added.
This region has tremendous growth potential that has only made us work even harder to roll out more flight services to meet the demand for tourism, trade, and business purposes. This latest route will definitely benefit both regions,” Mr. Santisuk said.
Nepal is renowned for its cultural richness, making it a top destination. Visitors can marvel at Swayambhunath, a temple complex where the iconic Buddha’s eyes survey the landscape from the main stupa, offering panoramic views of Kathmandu.
Boudhanath, the largest pagoda in Nepal, has been a World Heritage site since 1979. Lumbini, where Gautama Buddha was born, is pivotal for Buddhists and, along with Kathmandu Durbar Square in the ancient city of Bhaktapur, stands as a key historical site to visit in Kathmandu.
For those who love the outdoors, Nepal presents unparalleled natural beauty. Near Pokhara lies the famous Annapurna Base Camp, or ABC, where adventurers can enjoy Phewa Lake before embarking on a journey to Everest Base Camp, or EBC, a premier destination for thrill-seekers.
AirAsia currently services 16 routes in South Asia, connecting cities such as Bengaluru, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi, Gaya, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Tiruchirappalli, Hyderabad, Dhaka, Colombo, the Maldives, and the latest addition, Kathmandu, offering a total of 87 flights a week.
