Thailand’s leading retail property development and investment company, Central Pattana, is expanding its digital project in the Bang Na area with the addition of a new data center.
The facility will benefit from a strategic location, suitable environment, diverse transportation options, high security, and close proximity to power sources, positioning the eastern district of Bang Na as a key location for data center enterprises.
This expansion is being facilitated through a collaboration with Evolution Data Centres (Thailand) Limited, a joint venture between Central Pattana and Evolution Data Centres (EDC), an ASEAN-based data center service provider.
Phoom Chirathivat, Head of Alternative Investments at Central Pattana, revealed that the initial construction phase of the Bangna Data Center project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2025.
The project aims to advance the development of Thailand’s digital infrastructure and stimulate growth in its digital economy.
Additionally, EDC has broadened its partnership by teaming up with International Gateway (IGC), a prominent telecommunications network service provider in Thailand, to further enhance the country’s digital infrastructure development.
IGC is contributing its expertise in three critical areas: telecommunications infrastructure, internet services, and rapid data transmission via fiber optic networks.
The goal of this partnership is to develop a secure, reliable, and efficient high-level communication network infrastructure.
Darren Webb, CEO of EDC, emphasized the importance of IGC’s high-speed fiber network to the Data Center project, explaining how it supports interactions with both large-scale clients and corporate entities entering Thailand’s digital marketplace and global networks, offering long-term benefits to clients in Thailand and the broader ASEAN region.
Earlier in January, EDC (Thailand) entered into a partnership with the state-run telecommunications company, National Telecom (NT).
This partnership is set to provide extensive telecommunications network services both domestically and internationally through land-based cable networks connecting to more than ten neighboring countries and includes the highest number of subsea cable connections, with up to nine systems linked to various global regions.
