DreamWorks Animation-Themed Hotel Coming to Pattaya in 2033

Thailand’s first DreamWorks Animation-themed hotel is set to open in Pattaya in early 2033, bringing some of the studio’s best-known characters to a new family-focused resort on the city’s beachfront.

The 300-room property will be developed by Asset World Corp (AWC) in collaboration with Universal Destinations & Experiences, the location-based entertainment division of the US media and entertainment company NBCUniversal.

Spanning approximately 16,000 square metres, the hotel will form part of Aquatique, AWC’s large-scale mixed-use development in Chon Buri province. Plans also include an indoor-outdoor water park inspired by DreamWorks Animation films and characters.

Guests can expect experiences based on franchises including “Shrek,” “Madagascar,” “Kung Fu Panda,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “Trolls” and “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.” The storytelling will extend across the accommodation, attractions and other areas of the resort.

“Through our ongoing collaboration with AWC, we’re exploring new ways to bring them to life, from the energy and adventure of a themed water park to a hotel where the storytelling extends throughout the stay,” said Gerald Raines, senior vice president of Global Location Based Entertainment at Universal Destinations & Experiences.

“We’re excited to create more opportunities for fans to experience the worlds they love.”

AWC and Universal Destinations & Experiences formally signed the partnership agreement on September 1. The hotel is scheduled to welcome its first guests during the first quarter of 2033.

Beyond its themed rooms and water attractions, the property is expected to offer retail outlets, beachfront restaurants, leisure activities and holistic wellness experiences as part of the wider Aquatique development.

“From Jurassic World at Asiatique The Riverfront Destination to the gates of Aquatique, our journey with Universal Destinations & Experiences has been about bringing the world’s most beloved stories home to Thailand,” said Wallapa Traisorat, chief executive and president of AWC.

Wallapa said the project would support Pattaya’s local communities while helping Thailand strengthen its position as an international destination for family tourism.

The multibillion-baht Aquatique complex will be located in central Pattaya within the Eastern Economic Corridor.

According to AWC, the development is expected to benefit from major transport projects in the region, including the planned high-speed rail network and the expansion of U-Tapao International Airport.
