LINE has announced that its LINE VOOM service will be discontinued in Thailand on September 28, with all content stored on the platform set to be permanently deleted following the closure.
The company confirmed the decision on August 3, citing changes in the internet landscape and a move to consolidate the resources used to operate its services.
The phased shutdown will begin on August 31, before LINE VOOM officially stops operating in Thailand at 11am on Monday, September 28.
After the service closes, users in Thailand will no longer be able to access LINE VOOM, while photographs, videos, messages and other posts saved on the platform will be removed.
Users have been urged to download and back up any content they wish to keep before the September 28 deadline.
Several functions associated with LINE VOOM will also be withdrawn, including Stories, the Follow and Followers features, and Birthday Cards.
Those who wish to continue receiving updates from accounts they currently follow are advised to add them as friends before the shutdown. However, the option is available only for official accounts.
To add an account, users should open the My menu, select the settings icon, enter the Followers section, choose the relevant account, tap the chat icon and add it as a friend.
LINE apologised for the inconvenience and thanked users in Thailand for their support of the service.
Anyone with questions or concerns about the closure may contact the company through its enquiry form within 30 days of the August 3 announcement.
The company said it would continue to develop and improve its remaining services.
