Shake Shack’s First Thai Branch Is Set To Debut Next Year

The local burger-makers battle has heated up after the original Shake Shack announced that it would officially come to Thailand next year!

This week, the New York City-based fast food chain posted a picture featuring its iconic elephant logo and the word “Thailand” with the caption: “We’ll be serving ShackBurgers in The Land of Smiles soon.”

Shake Shack’s expansion to the kingdom comes through a licensing agreement with Maxim’s Caterers Limited, the operator behind several shacks in Greater China locations -such as Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong. Their first store is expected to open in Bangkok in 2023.

The exact location of the first Thai Shake Shack has yet to be revealed, but the brand announced that it would not be the country’s only branch, as it plans to open more stores in the next decade. According to an official press release from Maxim’s Caterers Limited, their license agreement aims to open 15 branches across the kingdom within 2032.

Shake Shack’s first branch opened in 2004 at Madison Square Park as a hot dog stand. Since then, it has expanded worldwide, opening eateries in over 370 locations.

The announcement of its first branch in Thailand comes just months after Shake Shack’s CEO Randy Garutti said the chain had “big plans for Asia.” It has already opened restaurants in Singapore and Manila and has announced a new shack in Malaysia.

Over the years, Shake Shack has gained popularity for its fresh-made fatty Angus beef burgers, also known as ShackBurgers. Its menu includes crunchy, salty crinkle-cut fries and sweet, creamy hand-spun milkshakes.

Shake Shack’s most famous dishes include its ‘Shroom burger, a vegetarian, delicious alternative to the ever-popular beef patties, made with crispy fried Portobello mushroom combined with both melted cheddar and Muenster cheese.

It also has the Shack-cago Dog, an old Chicago-style classic that comes loaded with onion, pepper, tomato, pickle, celery salt, mustard, and the unique Rick’s Picks Shack condiment.

There’s also its SmokeShack, a burger topped with applewood-smoked bacon and slathered with a relish of chopped cherry peppers for the perfect salty-sweet combination, as well as their classic but famous ShackBurger with ShackSauce, cheese, and vegetables.

Moreover, each Shake Shack location has a menu specially designed for their customers’ furry friends, with treats ranging from pup-friendly vanilla custard with red velvet dog biscuits by Outsider Tart to pup-friendly beef and cheddar dog biscuits.
