Bangkok Design Week Opens With Hybrid Taiwanese Events

Trying to adapt to the new normal, Bangkok Design Week arrives in 2021 with simultaneous online and offline exhibitions, hoping to use the “Resurgence of Possibilities” theme to demonstrate whether design can effectively help the world to restart after overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bangkok Design Week has become one of the most important annual events for design communities not only in Thailand but across Southeast Asia.

Every year, it transforms design into real power and action to showcase Bangkok’s diverse ways of life.

For the 2021 edition, the Taiwan Design Research Institute received a special invitation from the organizer to join the exhibition using the slogan “Taiwan Design Power.”

It expects to show the possible new needs and possibilities of continuous development in the post-pandemic era through “The Future of Sustainability” theme.

Moreover, in keeping with the theme announced by Bangkok Design Week, the Taiwan Pavilion combines sustainability and circular themes to display Taiwan’s soft power and showcase ways to respond to a future full of change.

Some works in this exhibition are Sunspa UV folding sterilizer by Vogito, StyroCycle Keyboard & Mouse by LITE-ON Technology, and re-PET Bag by Dot Design.

All of them show how Taiwan uses circular principles and recycled materials for innovative designs in a wide range of industries, such as electronics, furniture, appliances, and daily necessities, meeting the demands of today’s consumers and green expectations and building future business opportunities.

The Taiwan Pavilion, expected to attract over 10,000 visitors, will be held from June 12th to July 31st at Thailand Creative & Design Center.
