Bangkok Is Home to the Best Rooftop Bars in the World

The city of Bangkok is filled with towering structures across its packed central business district and nightlife hotspot areas and sky bars have become something as a city specific phenomenon. From luxurious and supremely high-class hi-so bars to cost effective trendy spots for a cheeky drink with a view, the Big Mango caters for every single demographic and price range. 

Generally, the patrons of these very unique watering holes are drawn to cocktails and wines, and the bars offer a wonderful opportunity to drink outside in the open air, with their elevation providing a much cooler environment that the establishments at ground level. Many of the bars also serve food and some of the options offer world class dining experiences, the likes of which you’ll find in few other cities around the world. 

Vertigo

Veritgo is located at Banyan Tree Bangkok and is regarded as a fantastic rooftop bar / restaurant perfectly positioned in the city’s night sky. You can expect excellent food and some of the cities best service. The hotel is located on South Sathorn Road and it is 61 floors in the sky. It offers a panoramic view of the central business district and Chao Phraya River. The restaurant is perfectly suited to a special occasion or one-off memorable night on your vacation.

Sky Bar @ lebua State Tower

Sky Bar at Lebua State Tower is one of the tallest inclusions on our list, standing 250 metres above sea level and offering some of the best views in the whole city. The tower is located a short walk from Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain Station and has been featured in the hollywood film ‘The Hangover II’ and Netflix show ‘Travels With My Father’, the former of which has a cocktail named after it, ‘Hangovertini’. The experience is lavish and luxurious and their prices are well worth the views that are on offer. Ideal for those who like to do it in style.

Octave Rooftop & Lounge

Octave Rooftop & Lounge was one of Sukhumvit Road’s first rooftop bars, offering the perfect setting for a romantic meal or beautiful sunset cocktail experience. This listing has one of the best views available and the bar is set on three-levels, making it one of the biggest rooftop venues in the city. The bar is just a three-minute walk from Thonglor BTS and its location being slightly off the tourist trail means you can usually get a table. Check their website for deals and offers, they have two for one cocktails during certain intervals in the day.

HI-SO Rooftop Bar @ SO Sofitel Bangkok

HI-SO Rooftop Bar at SO Sofitel Bangkok located in Sathorn is blessed with the style, popularity and service that you’d come to expect from any establishment from Sofitel. It’s location in Sathorn means that it gives unrivalled views of the city’s famous Lumphini Park. The bar offers a selection of tapas and mains courses, like their black angus burger and fish and chips. The bar is set out of two floors and its popularity at weekend means that you will need to get in early to grab a table or if you’ve got something special planned, get in touch and book with their reception team.

Three Sixty @ Millennium Hilton Bangkok

Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton Bangkok oozes the class and style that you would associate with the world-famous Hilton brand. Though its 32th floor setting isn’t quite as high as many of the other entries on the list, the bar offers magnificent views and world-class service. The bar is set out in two sections, one outdoor and the other indoor and specialises in fine wines and cocktails. The offer romantic picnics for two on certain occasions that features delicious fresh cold cuts, cheese and artisan breads. It’s also a perfect spot for fireworks displays held on the Chao Phraya River.

Above Eleven

Above Eleven is located thirty-two floors above one of Bangkok’s hottest party areas on Sukhumvit Soi 11 near the BTS Nana station. It is a relaxed Central Park styled roof bar, spread out over two floors. As well as catering to the sunset cocktail seekers, they also offer a Peruvian-Japanese fusion menu, which are delicious and unique to anything else you’ll find in the city. The bar offers a 180-degree view of Bangkok’s shopping areas and the city’s massive modern shopping malls. They offer a salsa night on Wednesdays and a live three-piece jazz band performance on Thursdays.

CRU Rooftop Champagne Bar

CRU Rooftop Champagne Bar screams hi-so and caters to some of the city’s wealthiest and most influential clientele. It’s hosted at the Centara Grand within the hugely-popular CentralWorld Mall. The bar offers a fair share of exclusive brands that aren’t available anywhere else, like France’s G.H. Mumm Champagne and other rare bottles such as 2009 Bollinger 007 Spectre Limited edition. The bar is sleek and sophisticated and towers above the city on the 59th floor / rooftop of the hotel. The prices remain competitive despite the bars exclusive feel, so don’t be daunted by its standing, there’s something on offer for everyone.

Red Sky @ CentralWorld

Red Sky at CentralWorld is the second entry on the list that is housed within the Centara Grand Hotel, although this one 4 floor lower than the CRU Champagne Bar. Although the bar isn’t on the top of the building, it does have a wonderful outdoor balcony. Located in Siam within CentralWorld makes it the perfect place for a wind down and relax after a weekend shopping trip in the city’s many malls. The bar is best-loved for its range of signature cocktails and they have a happy hour between 4pm to 5pm for 2-for1 drinks. Their entertainment is provided by the supremely talented jazz quartet which gives the bar are relaxed and up-market vibe.

Cielo Rooftop Skybar

Cielo Rooftop Skybar in Bangkok strikes up the right chords with a superb view, competitive pricing and plenty of seating for viewing the city’s sunsets. The bar might have an unconventional entrance in a condominium building and its location is not a particular hot spot, but the 180 degree view is absolutely stunning and well worth the trip. It is located a short 3 minute walk from the BTS Pra Kannong. One of the bars highlights is that it has a glass floored sky walk. They offer a delicious range of cocktails and patrons will find that their wine and beer menu is better priced that many of the other bars in Bangkok.

342 Bar – Baan Wanglang

342 Bar – Baan Wanglang is a wonderful little alfresco establishment located on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River and although you will have to negotiate a ferry journey to the Wanglang Pier. While the bar is quite small, it’s slightly inconvenient location means it stays reasonably peaceful. It’s one of the best bars in the city to enjoy a drink with views of the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. They have a wonderful range of signature cocktails and bar snacks that are very competitively priced and the Thai restaurant Tonmakok offers excellent local cuisine in a more elegant fashion that street offerings.

Char Rooftop Bar at Indigo Hotel

Char Rooftop Bar at Indigo Hotel isn’t quite as tall and doesn’t have the floorspace that many of the city’s rooftop bars have, but they have excelled in using their space as wisely as possible. Their ultra-modern decor and furnishings are selected with style and practicality at their core and the bar has created a wonderful sense of exclusivity that makes you feel special when enjoying the experience. The bar’s unique selling point is that they have work stations facing a beautiful view of the city, a stunning backdrop to finish off your Friday emails over a fine red wine. The bar is located within the Indigo Hotel which is a 6-minute walk from the BTS Phloen Chit station.

SEEN Restaurant & Bar @ Avani Hotel

SEEN Restaurant & Bar at Avani Hotel is a stunningly sophisticated riverside cocktail bar located within the Avani Hotel in Thonburi. Its wonderful view and huge cocktail menu make it a perfect destination to enjoy some drinks with friends in the evening. The bar also boasts a very diverse international menu by successful Portugese chef Oliver Da Costa and the bars sleek 80s style decor give an unrivalled elegance and relaxed aura. The bar is a 15 minutes ferry ride from Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain which leaves from Sathorn pier in front of the station. The bar is perfect for a romantic date or after work tipples.

Zoom Skybar @ Anantara Sathorn

Zoom Skybar at Anantara Sathorn is blessed with a huge amount of space, set on the roof on the 40th floor of the Anantara Hotel in Sathorn, with a wonderful 360-view on the city. It’s completely open air and provides respite from the hot and humid street bars of the streets. The offer an international food menu with an Asian-inspired fusion, as well as light bites that pair well with their extensive cocktail menu. The hotel is located close to both the BTS Surasak station and the MRT Lumphini station. You’ll find plenty of spots to relax and relax atmosphere to enjoy the night sky.

Bar9 at Novotel Platinum

Bar9 at Novotel Platinum is one of the lower entries on our list, on just the 9th floor of the Novetel Platinum Hotel, beside the city’s CentralWorld and Platinum Mall. The bar is unqiue because it hosts a large amount of greenery and it also has a pool that you’re able to use as a patron of the business. It provides a wonderfully relaxing day in the city from people who are looking for an escape for a few hours or even the whole day. The drinks and bar snacks are surprisingly inexpensive when compared to the bars decor and surroundings. A superb place to end a long days shopping in the heart of the city.

Bluesky @ Centara Grand Lad Prao

Bluesky – Centara Grand Lad Prao is a rather different experience when compared to many of the bars on the list because of its locations somewhat outside of the usual popular hubs. Its offers stunning views over Chatuchak and Lad Prao on the Centara Grand Lad Prao’s 24th floor. From this bar you can see Bangkok’s central regions in a single frame, as view that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. They offer a range of classic and signature cocktails, as well as an excellent contemporary French food menu. Perfect for some luxury if you’ve spent the day exploring the city’s famous Chatuchak weekend market.

Distil Rooftop Bar – lebua at State Tower

Distil Rooftop Bar – lebua at State Tower is the second entry on the list hosted at lebua State Tower. It is a cocktail bar and lounge which is generally considered to serve some of the best and most innovative drinks creations available in the whole city. Comprising both indoor sofa areas and an outdoor wood-inspired cigar terrace, it’s a beautifully sophisticated bar that offers rare wines, whiskeys and cigars and an exclusive atmosphere. The bars entertainment is provided by talented DJs that play a selection of relaxing jazzy lounge music, while enjoying one of the tallest aerial views of the city.

Long Table

Long Table is located in the CTI Tower on Sukhumvit 16 and while the bar is not located on the roof of a building, it is still on the 25th floor and its decor and atmosphere make it a very special inclusion on this list. It is more of a restaurant than a bar, which serves a stunning menu of traditional Thai dishes with a more sophisticated and gourmet twist. It’s perfect for watching the Bangkok sunset with an unique cocktail, followed by an expertly crafted three-course meal. The seating comprises stylish comfortable booths give an illusion of privacy inside what is one of the city’s trendiest spots.

Speakeasy @ Hotel Muse

Speakeasy – Hotel Muse is unique in theme, transporting you back to 1920s America and the era of prohibition. Think Al Capone style old school mobster decor from a period where clubs and bars had to be heavily disguised to avoid police detection. The bar sells a wide range of cocktails in trendy jam jar glassware. The decor and drinks is complemented perfectly by the music when is predominately jazz. The view gives you a wonderful view of Sukhumvit and Sathorn. The bar is located close to the BTS Chidlom, close to Lumphini Park.

The Roof @ 38th Bar – Mode Sathorn Hotel

The Roof @ 38th Bar – Mode Sathorn Hotel is easy to spot as it is mauve coloured and hosted on the 38th floor of Mode Sathorn Hotel, far above the busy and stressful irritation of the city’s streets. The rooftop is open to the elements, so I would give it a miss if it’s a rainy day. The bar’s wonderful atmosphere and decor are impressive and you’re able to get a 360 degree view of the city as you walk around the entire towers circumference. The bar offers a wonder array of cocktails, wines and spirits at competitive prices and it’s relaxed and comfortable setting means its well worth an evening visit if you’re in the Sathorn area of Bangkok.

Scarlett Wine Bar and Restaurant

Scarlett Wine Bar and Restaurant is hosted on the 37th floor of the Pullman Hotel in Silom and offers a range of stunning cuisine and beautiful views of the city’s numerous skyscrapers. The bar exudes a warming and welcoming atmosphere that relaxes the tensions of a busy city life in one of Asia’s busiest hubs. The dining room occupies a vast area and is designed to reflect a cosy feel through the excellent use of lighting. The establishment is located close to the BTS Chong Nonsi and is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.

The Rooftop Bar @ Baiyoke Sky Hotel

The Rooftop Bar at Baiyoke Sky Hotel is one of the city’s highest vertical destinations, hosted on 83rd floor of the huge Baiyoke Sky Hotel in Pratunam. You expect magnificent views and expertly crafted cocktails from their world-class hosting team. The bar is unique because it has a revolving observation deck, the only one in the city, so although this bar and hotel might of been open for a while, they still have an attraction and experience that isn’t available at any other location in Bangkok. The bar is located close to the ARL Ratchaprarop Station and Platinum Fashion Mall.

Mahanakhon Skywalk

Mahanakhon Skywalk is Bangkok’s tallest observation deck and bar, standing at an eye-watering 314 metres and offering 360-degree views of the whole city. The building does have an entrance fee which ranges between B780 and B1050 depending on the vendor. For the entry price you can experience their interactive high-speed elevator, and their awe-inspiring glass bottom skywalk. The attraction does have a bar that serves a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The tower is located within walking distance of the BTS Sala Daeng station.
