Bolt Unveils New User Verification Feature To Elevate Riders’ Safety

Bolt, the global shared mobility firm, continues to enhance its safety measures by recently adding a new user verification feature, allowing users based within Thailand to verify their identities, independently. The move is part of Bolt’s ongoing efforts to build trust between drivers and riders, aiming to provide a safer, quicker, and more efficient travel experience.

Since launching its services in Thailand in 2020, Bolt has grown to become one of the top ride-hailing companies in the nation, appealing to an extensive array of customers with its competitive pricing. The services are available in Bangkok as well as in other major cities.

For anyone seeking dependable and secure rides to get around Bolt remains the ultimate option, and through the launch of this innovative user verification feature, passengers can have peace of mind, knowing that their safety is a top priority for the transportation giant.

Headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, Bolt is a super app that provides multiple services, such as ride-hailing, scooter and e-bike sharing, food and grocery delivery, and also car rentals. Founded in 2013, the business now operates in more than 600 cities across 50 countries.

Bolt’s latest safety feature enhances security by requiring users to verify their identity with a clear selfie taken in a realistic setting. They must also upload an identification document in which Thai nationals will need to show their ID card, while foreigners should upload the front page of their passport – the entire process will only take a few minutes to complete.

Individuals will need to update their Bolt application to access this new feature, and whilst user verification is an optional improvement, it’s highly recommended that riders undergo authentication, so drivers can accept orders more confidently and deliver faster services.

Offering Fast and Reliable Services to Both Riders and Drivers

The introduction of the new verification feature will be incorporated alongside Bolt’s other existing safety practices including options to share trip details with friends, an emergency button, and the ability to record audio during the journey if you have any safety concerns.

Additional protective protocols include Bolt automatically contacting riders and drivers via the application if the vehicle is stationary for an extended period, to make sure everything is fine. Also, alert notifications will go out should your route pass through areas known for frequent safety incidents that have been regularly reported to its customer support team.

Nathadon Suksiritarnan, Bolt’s Country Manager for Thailand, states “The user verification feature is one of the most requested by drivers in Thailand. Its launch highlights our deep commitment to heightening safety and building mutual trust between drivers and riders.”

“Increasing investments in verification features underscores our key focus on significantly elevating overall travel experience,” Mr. Suksiritarnan remarked. “We are highly dedicated to building trust between users and drivers, and on emphasizing the platform’s reliability.”

The company recently partnered with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to train its drivers, and raise awareness of safety importance. Additionally, there are plans to host further activities in the future, aimed at creating a sustainable and reliable travel platform.
