Central Pattana (CPN), Thailand’s top retail property developer, has announced a strategic extension of Central Phuket, aiming to position the extraordinary province as an illustrious global island destination for living. The company is committing 7 billion baht to the mixed-use development in the city centre, with the scheme projected to expand by around 40%.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, the initiative will encompass a doubled high-end zone, the introduction of an impressive culinary landmark offering curated dining choices, and a new entertainment and attraction area, spread across an additional 14-rai extension zone.
This venture underpins Phuket’s broader ambition to transition toward a year-round urban economy, with CPN playing a considerable role in reframing the island beyond tourism by strengthening its shopping and lifestyle experiences to better serve any long-stay guests.
Positioning the Mall To Achieve a Lasting Impact as a Retail Hotspot
As the only premium mall outside Bangkok, Central Phuket comprises two interconnected spaces, as Central Phuket Festival – “The Everyday Urban Lifestyle Gateway” and Central Phuket Floresta – “The Pinnacle of Urban Luxury” come together in a magnificent setting.
Dr Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Chief Marketing Officer for CPN (shown second from left in the picture above), said the expansion highlights the group’s more than 20-year presence in Phuket. This has resulted in 140 projects including hotels, residences, and Central retail stores, a milestone that makes the island amongst the top places the firm has invested in.
He asserted thriving coastal cities are determined not only by natural scenery, but also by resilient, integrated frameworks that support everyday life. Phuket, he mentioned, intends to pivot away from short-term tourism in support of a sustainable permanent living model.
This move is further validated through ongoing investment in branded properties, upscale hotels, health and wellness facilities, and infrastructure upgrades, including the significant extension of Phuket International Airport to service over 18 million passengers every year.
Within the dynamic luxury market, Central Phuket remains a key driver of city expenditure, attracting wealthy Thais and high-quality international patrons who spend about 2.5 times more than the average shopper. In addition, the sizeable retail expertise of CPN, covering 18 nations and 140 cities, strengthens deep confidence among brand partners worldwide.
After the undertaking is completed, the total capital value is expected to exceed 26 billion baht, with the undertaking spanning a gross building area (GBA) of 500,000 sq. m. across 110 rai of land, cementing its name as one of ASEAN’s leading multi-functional complexes.
Bringing Together Multiple Luxury Global Labels All Under One Roof
Central Phuket’s expansion is organised around three major pillars encompassing fashion, food, and entertainment. In an effort to bolster its standing in the upmarket shopping field, the hub will feature distinguished labels such as Balenciaga, Versace, Gucci, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton, alongside numerous debuts outside Bangkok and first-in-Thailand pop-ups.
Visitors have a chance to browse through more than 250 premium and mid-range brands, with prominent highlights including ZARA’s largest flagship store in Southeast Asia and an exceptional roster of world-famous retailers like Lululemon, Alo, Orlebar Brown, and COS.
Another major highlight is the launch of a 20,000 sq. m. culinary venue, featuring a terrific collection of local and fine-dining concepts, spearheaded by some well-renowned chains, among them Thai Brasserie by Blue Elephant, Arabica, Starbucks, Haidilao, and Su Va Na.
Completing this venture is a dedicated space for leisure and cultural activities, focused on an aquatic attraction, designed to rival internationally recognised aquariums, as well as an interactive park. Popular gatherings — for example, Songkran, Pride Month, Loy Krathong, Christmas, and New Year celebrations — will also be taking place at the wonderful venue.
All aspects of this project, integrating Central Phuket Festival and Central Phuket Floresta, are set to adopt an architectural identity shaped by the Andaman coastline, local heritage and global sensibilities, delivering a distinctive experience informed by place and culture.
The shopper’s destination is envisioned to become the “Heart of Phuket,” moving beyond the traditional retail model to create a remarkable urban seaside community in one place. For further info on the exciting project, please check out Central Phuket’s official website.
