Gearing up for the festive season, the Goethe-Institut Thailand is hosting the German Christmas Market 2024 at Sathon 1 this Saturday and Sunday, bringing festive cheer to downtown Bangkok.
This event is a collaborative effort with partners including Lufthansa Airlines, FC Bayern Munich, Audi, Paulaner, and Tiger Balm. It creates a vibrant space where people from all walks of life can experience European traditions and engaging activities.
From midday to 10 pm, attendees will discover 50 booths and a stage showcasing European culinary delights, unique gifts, fun games, and live performances, all set in a verdant tropical environment.
At the heart of the market, this year’s Christmas tree, crafted by Thai artist Wishulada Panthanuvong from recycled plastic, emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices and the beauty that can arise from repurposed materials.
Visitors can savor a plethora of seasonal treats such as mulled wine, gingerbread, roasted almonds, and a selection of European Christmas staples from German and Thai eateries, including Bavarian roast pork, Berlin döner kebab, sausages, assorted bakery items, and ice cream.
Families are invited to find distinctive handmade gifts, engage in numerous fun activities like crafting Christmas ornaments or playing board games, and enjoy the festive atmosphere with live music from choirs and bands.
Car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view Audi’s latest TT model, and Tiger Balm will offer quick massages at their booth. Additionally, a live broadcast of the match between FC Bayern Munich and FC Heidenheim will captivate football fans.
The 2024 raffle offers an exciting chance to win various prizes, including FC Bayern Munich merchandise, a free German language course, and an e-scooter. The grand prize includes two round-trip tickets from Bangkok to Munich, courtesy of Lufthansa Airlines.
Ticket prices are set at 80 baht for adults and children over 12. A special family rate of 120 baht covers one adult and up to five children under 12.
Tickets can be purchased in advance through Ticketmelon. For more information about the event, you may wish to visit goethe.de/thailand.
