Royal Enfield Marks 125 Years With Snow Leopard Conservation Ride

Some journeys are defined by more than their destination, bringing people together while fostering a deeper understanding of the places they discover. For motorcycle enthusiasts, the open road can nurture a strong sense of community and respect for the natural world.

Royal Enfield is marking its 125th anniversary with “One Ride 2026,” a global motorcycling event scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 20. This gathering will feature more than 1,600 organised rides across 60-plus nations, connecting thousands of motorcyclists from different continents and cultures through their shared passion for life on two wheels.

Each year, “One Ride” embodies Royal Enfield’s “Pure Motorcycling” spirit by encouraging riders to leave every place better than they found it. In this year’s edition, the commitment will aid efforts to conserve the snow leopard and protect its vulnerable Himalayan habitat.

Founded in 1901, Royal Enfield is a global leader in the mid-sized motorcycle segment and the world’s oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production. Its yearly “One Ride” event, launched in 2011, has expanded alongside the company’s international presence, with the 2025 gathering recording a brilliant turnout of over 53,000 people across its programme.

The Himalayas have long been deeply tied to Royal Enfield’s identity, drawing generations of riders to the region’s remote roads and sweeping scenery. These journeys have helped shape the firm’s adventurous character and its longstanding connection to the mountains.

While the Himalayas provide an outstanding landscape for motorcycling, their significance goes well beyond the experience of travelling through them. The expansive highlands are home to local communities and a wide range of wildlife that have co-existed for centuries.

Protecting the Himalayas Through Community-Led Conservation

Discussing the initiative, Mohit Dhar Jayal, Royal Enfield’s President of Brand and Strategy, said “One Ride 2026” would turn the brand’s profound ties to the Himalayas into a shared responsibility. Every rider’s participation will result in a Royal Enfield pledge towards snow leopard conservation, turning the collective ride into truly impactful environmental action.

The snow leopard is a keystone species in the high Himalayas, where it plays a significant role in maintaining the delicate balance of the ecosystem. Its current population in India is estimated at 718, a figure that reinforces the need to safeguard the animal and its habitat.

Royal Enfield works through the wider “Social Mission” to protect areas inhabited by snow leopards within Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, and Jammu and Kashmir, building on its long-running work in the region and the focus on community conservation.

Currently, the initiatives span more than 10,500 square kilometres of high-altitude territory across the vast Himalayas. Within that total, 53 square kilometres fall under its community conservation programme, clearly highlighting how the company balances broad territorial coverage with more focused action in selected locations through a structured framework.

More than another edition of the yearly motorcycling event, “One Ride 2026” encourages anyone taking part to travel with awareness and respect for their surroundings. Moreover, their involvement can turn a shared interest into tangible support for an ecological cause.

As Royal Enfield celebrates 125 years on the road, the occasion gives enthusiasts a lovely opportunity to help safeguard the future of the Himalayas. If you hope to discover nearby events in Thailand or register to participate, visit Royal Enfield Thailand’s official Website.
