Thailand To Unveil Its Largest Urban Rooftop Garden in Silom

Thailand’s largest urban rooftop garden will open on 3 September, with developers aiming to use the 7-rai green space to help revitalise Bangkok’s historic Silom district.

Located on top of the Dusit Central Park development, the rooftop park spans 11,200 square metres across the 4th to 7th floors of the mixed-use complex.

The facility will accommodate about 1,000 visitors daily, with advance registration required to manage crowd levels.

La-ead Kovavisaruch, Chief Executive Officer of Vimarn Suriya Company Limited, the project’s developer, said the garden is intended to restore foot traffic to an area that has lost ground to newer hubs such as Sukhumvit.

“We hope this rooftop garden will become another landmark attracting people to visit the Silom, Rama 4, and Sathorn areas more frequently, bringing this district back to life,” La-ead said at a media briefing on Monday.

Silom, once the capital’s primary business and shopping district, has seen activity decline in recent years as commerce and nightlife shifted elsewhere.

The botanical garden features exclusively native Thai plants selected for their high oxygen output and carbon absorption. Visitors will be able to scan QR codes to learn about the species on display.

According to Suphajee Suthumpun, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited, the facility was designed under “Universal Design” principles, ensuring accessibility for all visitors, including wheelchair users.

The space includes a Food Passage with dining outlets, the D Garden linking to residential and hotel areas, a Bird Nest viewing platform with skyline views, a multipurpose amphitheatre, and tiered walkways for observing nature.

The rooftop park forms part of the 46-billion-baht Dusit Central Park project, which also includes retail, office, hotel, and residential components. Construction is more than 80% complete, with the hotel already open.

The shopping centre is due to open on 4 September, while residential units are scheduled for mid-2026. Sales have already reached 91% of the 95% target set for 2025.

The rooftop garden will open daily from 6am to 10m. It is directly accessible via BTS Sala Daeng and MRT Silom stations, with bus services and private parking also available.

Developers said the design follows “Biophilic Design” concepts, intended to connect visitors with nature through natural textures, materials, and sensory features such as waterfalls and native vegetation.
