The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has confirmed it will once again host its acclaimed “Vijit Chao Phraya” light and sound extravaganza in Bangkok, promising to transform the Chao Phraya River into a “world-class stage” during this year’s festive season.
The event, officially titled “Vijit Chao Phraya 2025,” is scheduled to run for 45 consecutive days from 1 November to 15 December.
Organisers project the festival will draw more than 1.5 million visitors and generate upwards of 500 million baht for the Thai economy, providing a major boost to tourism and riverside businesses.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool chaired a high-level coordination meeting on Friday to finalise arrangements, joined by representatives from both the public and private sectors.
According to Krunthep Turakij reporter Pornpailin Julapan, attendees included officials from the Royal Thai Navy, Metropolitan Police, Marine Department, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), and Siriraj Hospital, alongside riverside hotels and commercial anchors such as ICONSIAM and Asiatique.
“All agencies praised the success of the event over the past three years and expressed their readiness to fully support making this year’s event flawless,” TAT said in a statement.
The meeting placed heavy emphasis on visitor safety, water traffic control, and the orderly flow of spectators through designated viewing zones.
Organisers stressed that the event’s dual purpose is to stimulate spending at riverside businesses and encourage both Thai and international travellers to experience the capital from a new perspective.
Governor Thapanee underscored that “Vijit Chao Phraya 2025” will not only be a dazzling showcase of lights, projections, and performances but will also serve as a platform to highlight Thailand’s “Meaningful Travel Experience” campaign.
She outlined four key areas of partner cooperation to drive the festival’s success.
The first is a fully integrated public relations push across all participating agencies. The second focuses on hotel and river cruise promotions designed to lengthen visitor stays.
The third will see the launch of a photography and video contest aimed at generating fresh, shareable content across digital platforms. The fourth centres on implementing robust safety measures to ensure confidence among domestic and international audiences.
“The TAT believes that ‘Vijit Chao Phraya 2025’ will not only be a phenomenon of art and light along the river but will also ignite the Chao Phraya River to become a world-class stage that every tourist must experience once in their lifetime,” Governor Thapanee concluded.
