Bangkok Gears Up for Month-Long Global Pride Celebration

Bangkok is set to host the Bangkok Pride Festival 2025, a major celebration of love and equality expected to draw international visitors and contribute significantly to the city’s economy.

Themed “The Celebration: Right to Love 2025,” the festival will run from 30 May to 30 June, culminating in a large-scale Pride Parade on 1 June.

Organisers say this year’s event will be the most ambitious to date, coinciding with the recent legalisation of same-sex marriage in Thailand.

At a press conference held at Siam Paragon on Tuesday, Bangkok’s Deputy Governor Sanon Wangsrangboon reaffirmed the city’s commitment to equality and inclusivity, calling the upcoming celebration a milestone moment.

“This year holds special significance, with the legalisation of same-sex marriage now a reality and thousands of couples already registered,” Mr. Sanon said.

“This Pride Parade will be unlike any before. Looking ahead, the city is keen to support further advancements in equality. Economically, we aspire for the Bangkok Pride Festival to become a key global destination, attracting increasing numbers each year.”

“I extend a warm invitation to everyone to visit my city and experience all that it has to offer,” he added.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is organising the festival in partnership with Siam Piwat Group and a coalition of public and private sector partners.

These include Bangkok Pride, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Creative Economy Agency (CEA), the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the United Nations in Thailand, and Drag Bangkok.

The centrepiece event, the Bangkok Pride Parade, will take place on 1 June and is expected to be the largest and most colourful in Thailand’s history.

The parade route will stretch along Rama I Road, serving as a bold statement in support of diversity, inclusion, and human rights.

Notable attendees at the press conference on Tuesday, 6 May, included Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Chairman of the National Soft Power Development Committee; Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT; and Mayuree Chaipromprasith, a member of the Festival Industry Promotion Subcommittee.

Pimjai Leeissaranukul, President of both the CEA and FTI, and Ann Chumaporn, President and Founder of Naruemit Pride Company Limited, the festival organiser, were also present.

Representatives from various government agencies and private organisations also attended to show their support.
