Bangkok Hailed As 2021’s ‘World’s Best Workation Destination’

Bangkok has come out on top of a list ranking ‘workation’ cities in 2021 from all over the world, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has revealed citing a survey by Holidu, a German-based vacation rentals search engine.

The capital of Thailand took the number one spot for many reasons such as inexpensive cost of living, proficiency in English, selection of enticing tourist attractions, first-class amenities and the proliferation of international corporate offices.

Phuket also bagged 10th place on the line-up with its innate qualities as one of the most progressive and serene islands in the Land of Smiles.

TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn declared: “Having two Thai cities included in the top workation destinations of the world is a fantastic thumbs-up that indicates their immense popularity among those who choose to work abroad from their home.”

“Of all the cities on offer, it’s truly pleasing to know so many choose Bangkok and Phuket as their favourite workation spots,” he added.

The Workation Index ranked 150 places to spend your work-slash-vacation considering factors such as the best activities to be enjoyed in the area, the monthly rental fees for single bedroom apartments, average hours of sunshine and the efficiency of internet connections so people can enjoy proper workations.

Holidu’s 2021 Workation Index shows the rising interest of corporate organizations and professionals towards this style of working while vacationing.

It is an idea where work can be carried out from a place of your choice as nowadays a great deal of firms are asking their staff to work remotely.

The latest trend in the working culture has become popular since the start of the global Covid-19 outbreak as people had to adapt to new working arrangements.

Digital nomadism was already on the up for a number of years prior to the pandemic and has really become established with the conditions of the last year and a half.

Bangkok and Phuket are both ideally placed to take advantage of the situation now that workations are here to stay, one of the only good things to take from the health crisis.

Mastercard’s Global Destinations Cities Index ranked Bangkok as the most visited city in the world for four consecutive years prior to the coronavirus, with people flocking to the Asian city that is synonymous with street food, shopping and sightseeing.

Phuket is also an internationally-recognized cultural hotspot with a plethora of things to do and see, known as ‘The Pearl of the Andaman’ for good reason.
