A major fire erupted Thursday at a luxury 38-storey condominium in the Pin Klao area of Bangkok Noi, directly across from a popular shopping mall. Thick black smoke was seen billowing from the 16th floor, spreading upward.
Reports indicate that several residents were trapped in the building, particularly on the 17th and 24th floors, as well as on the 33rd-floor balcony.
Emergency responders, including firefighters and rescue teams, rushed to the scene, immediately beginning the evacuation of residents while working to contain the blaze.
At approximately 1:55pm, the Rama 199 Radio Centre received a report of the fire, later confirmed to be at the condominium on Somdet Phra Pin Klao Road in the Arun Amarin area.
By 1:58pm, personnel from the Bang Khun Non Fire and Rescue Station had arrived, quickly assessing the situation and moving to control the flames. Teams were deployed inside the building to assist residents and facilitate evacuations.
The rescue operation intensified at 2:03pm, with trapped individuals being moved to lower floors for safety. The situation became increasingly critical, and by 2:20pm, multiple people were reported trapped on the 17th and 24th floors.
Rescue teams continued efforts as reports at 2:32 pm indicated individuals stranded on the 33rd-floor balcony, an especially difficult area to access.
Firefighters and rescue personnel worked tirelessly to control the blaze and assist those affected.
By 2:35pm, a foreign male resident from the 15th floor was safely evacuated to the condominium’s garden on the 7th floor. Two individuals trapped in an elevator were rescued at 2:41pm.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and have pledged further updates as firefighting and rescue operations progress.
