Songkran celebrations along Silom Road in Bangkok concluded on Tuesday night, drawing more than 650,000 participants over three days, according to the Bang Rak District Office.
The turnout marked a sharp increase from the same period last year, when the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration recorded approximately 250,000 visitors at the popular festival site.
The “2026 Songkran Silom” festival took place from April 12 to 14, with a designated water-splashing zone stretching nearly two kilometres from Sala Daeng Intersection to Nararom Intersection. Activities were held daily from 1pm to 9pm.
The final day, which ended at 8pm, saw the highest attendance at 252,265 people. The opening day drew around 164,000 participants, followed by roughly 236,000 on the second day, bringing the total to 652,974, district officials said.
Authorities deployed staff on Tuesday evening to manage crowds and reopen Silom Road to traffic. Conditions have since returned to normal, while cleaning operations continued into Wednesday morning.
Wednesday marks the final day of Thai New Year celebrations across the capital. Key locations still hosting water festivities include Khao San Road, Siam, ICONSIAM, One Bangkok and Benjakitti Park.
City officials urged the public—particularly festival-goers—to follow the “five prohibitions”: no alcohol, no large water guns, no indecent behaviour, no use of powdered substances such as chalk or talcum, and no weapons.
They also highlighted three safety guidelines: maintain respectful conduct, take care of personal health, and use public spaces responsibly while keeping them clean.
All celebrations are scheduled to end by 10pm on Wednesday in line with guidelines issued by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
