Bangkok police have arrested 19 Chinese nationals after raiding a luxury residence in Sai Mai district, which authorities say was being used as an operational hub for online gambling activities targeting customers in China.
The operation was carried out on Friday by officers from the Metropolitan Police Division, in coordination with the Immigration Bureau and investigators from Kannayao police station.
The search was conducted at a property in the Or Ngoen area under a warrant issued by the Min Buri Criminal Court on April 16.
Those detained, aged between 26 and 45, have been charged with criminal association and organising illegal online gambling operations.
The raid followed a police investigation into reports that the house was being used to facilitate unlawful gambling activities.
Inside, officers found the suspects actively managing gambling websites, supported by multiple computers and communication devices.
Authorities seized a total of 102 mobile phones, two iPads, eight laptops, eight desktop computers and eight CPUs as evidence.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly admitted to running an online gambling platform through an application known as “Chang Sheng Entertainment”, which was aimed at Chinese users.
According to investigators, users were required to register accounts, transfer funds and convert them into betting credits.
Officers said they were able to inspect the system with the suspects’ consent, with all individuals reportedly acknowledging their involvement.
All suspects, along with the confiscated equipment, have been transferred to investigators at Kannayao police station for further legal proceedings.
