King’s College International School Bangkok (King’s Bangkok) is underlining its dedication to offering talented youngsters access to superior education in Thailand through the third year of its Academic Excellence Scholarship. This initiative aims to open doors for worthy students to enrol in first-class international schooling, regardless of financial background.
The scholarships are created for bright children currently in Year 10 (Grade 9), and Year 12 (Grade 11), supporting full tuition fees and up to 1 million baht to finance university studies. Totalling over 5 million baht per student, it’s Thailand’s largest private school scholarship.
With no post-graduation obligations, this financial assistance gives students the means of pursuing academic passions freely, while being guided by top educators. King’s Bangkok hopes to empower young scholars so they can contribute to both society and the nation.
For those unfamiliar with King’s Bangkok, the well respected British international school is based in the Rama 3 area, close to the Chao Phraya River in Yan Nawa district. The pupils are aged from 2 to 18, and the institute, an offshoot of King’s College School, Wimbledon, merges academic excellence with its emphasis on kindness, good manners, and wisdom.
Professor Sakorn Suksriwong, DBA, Chair of the Executive Committee for King’s Bangkok, seen in the photo above, believes the scholarships are a vital way of giving high potential students, who are financially disadvantaged, a pathway to international school education.
All educational costs are covered by the scholarships including tuition, learning materials, meals, and uniforms. Year 10 students can get support for four years, worth over 4 million baht, while Year 12 students can recieve support for two years, worth over 2 million baht.
Giving Bright Pupils Access to International Education in Thailand
The Headmaster of King’s Bangkok, William Forse, who can be seen above, feels the vast success of this initiative over the past two years has greatly benefited Thailand, attracting students from across the country. Once immersed in the school’s environment, they have achieved phenomenal results, thanks to the highly-qualified faculty and modern facilities.
In the current academic year, each of the 35 students in Year 13 has successfully received offers from more than 70 prestigious universities around the globe, with many of the best British, American, and Asian universities welcoming them into their premier programmes.
British institutes include the University of Cambridge, Imperial College, University College London, and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Among the top American institutes are Columbia University, Cornell University, and New York University.
Applicants for the King’s Bangkok scholarships must have excellent behaviour, a minimum GPA of 3.4 during the past two academic years (or equivalent), and must display excellent English proficiency, covering essential areas like listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Beyond academic requirements, the school hopes to pick students who are kind-hearted, morally upright, and eager to grow – individuals with the desire to better themselves and shaped by a profound sense of integrity, ready for the rewards of the international stage.
