Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Friday married his long-time partner, Thananon Niramit, in a private ceremony held at his residence in Bangkok, marking his third marriage.
The intimate ceremony took place on the morning of February 13 and was attended by close family members and a senior government official who served as witnesses.
Among those present were Mr Anutin’s daughter Naiyabhak, his son Saranee, and Unsit Sampuntharat, the permanent secretary of the Interior Ministry. Mr Anutin currently holds the dual roles of prime minister and interior minister.
The wedding date carried symbolic meaning rooted in Thai astrology.
While Friday the 13th is often regarded as unlucky in some cultures, the date is considered an auspicious “victory day” in Thailand, coinciding with the movement of Saturn out of Leo and Aquarius—an alignment believed to signal positive transitions.
Mr Anutin, 59, and Ms Thananon, 39, first publicly acknowledged their relationship in 2022 during an appearance at Government House. Since then, the couple have appeared together regularly at official and public functions.
Ms Thananon was born on Jan 14, 1986, in Ranong province, where her family operates an automotive parts business. She completed her secondary education at Triam Udom Suksa School before earning a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Thammasat University.
She is also an entrepreneur, owning JaJaa Coffee, a well-known café in Ranong, and has expanded her business to the capital with Jaristaa by JaJaa, a coffee shop distinguished by its modern Sino-Portuguese design.
