CCSA Outlines Conditions for Quarantine-Free Holidays

On Friday, the government revealed the conditions that international travelers from low-risk countries must meet to enter Thailand without quarantine as of November 1.

Apisamai Srirangson, a spokeswoman for the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), said authorities would end the mandatory quarantine for fully vaccinated foreign tourists traveling by air from 46 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, France, the Netherlands, Canada, and Germany.

The CCSA also added to the list Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bhutan, Brunei, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Chile, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, and Hong Kong.

Visitors from such nations must have been fully vaccinated and stayed in the country for at least 21 days before traveling, Dr. Apisamai explained, adding that they must have received their second Covid-19 vaccine dose at least 14 days before going to Thailand.

Moreover, travelers must undergo an RT-PCR test and obtain a negative result no more than 72 hours before their flight and have general medical insurance with coverage of at least $500,000 dollars.

Upon arrival, tourists must undergo another RT-PCR test and stay one night in a licensed hotel. If the test result is negative, they will be able to continue their free-quarantine trip.

All arrivals must download an app that allows authorities to track their whereabouts.

Outlined conditions also apply to people who recently left Thailand for those countries, Dr. Apisamai stated.

Those who previously left Thailand to visit any nation listed but stayed less than 21 days at their destination do not have to comply with the strict quarantine or purchase a $500,000 health insurance coverage, she went on.

According to the CCSA spokeswoman, the non-quarantine measures apply to arrivals by chartered flights at Suvarnabhumi, Chiang Mai, Don Mueang, Samui, U-Tapao, Phuket, and Buri Ram airports.

Travelers arriving on other flights must enter tourist reopening sandbox programs, such as Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangnga, and Krabi, and meet their requirements.

All people who arrive in Thailand but have not been vaccinated, have received a single Covid-19 vaccine dose, have been administered the second dose less than 14 days before their flight or travel from no-listed countries must self-isolate in state-approved quarantine facilities.

Both the reopening plan and the quarantine-free measures are subject to changes based on the Covid-19 situation, Dr. Apisamai stated.
