Chinese Procurer Evading 6-Year Prison Term Arrested in Thailand

A 32-year-old Chinese woman who allegedly fled her country after receiving a six-year prison sentence for procuring women for prostitution has been arrested near Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Crime Suppression Division (CSD) officers and immigration police detained the suspect, identified only as Ms Wang, beside a road in Samut Prakan province late on Monday night.

Pol Col Phattharaphon Patthamawong, head of the CSD’s Support Division, said the operation followed an investigation into the woman’s movements after she allegedly entered Thailand illegally.

Ms Wang was wanted by Chinese authorities in a case being investigated by the Nanning Public Security Bureau in the Guangxi region. She had been prosecuted in China but was temporarily released on bail because she was pregnant.

On December 2, 2025, the Xixiangtang District People’s Court sentenced her to six years in prison and imposed a fine of 500,000 yuan, equivalent to approximately 2.47 million baht.

She allegedly fled before beginning her sentence. Investigators said she travelled by train to Pingxiang, near China’s border with Vietnam, on December 18, 2025, before evading authorities and reportedly crossing illegally into Vietnam.

CSD investigators later obtained information indicating that Ms Wang had entered Thailand without authorisation and was staying in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang district.

Police continued monitoring her movements and learned that she was allegedly planning a “visa run” in an attempt to resolve her immigration status and extend her stay in Thailand.

The suspect flew from Thailand to Kuala Lumpur on September 11 before returning to Suvarnabhumi Airport several days later. Officers placed her under surveillance upon her arrival.

After leaving the airport, Ms Wang stopped beside a road at a prearranged meeting point, where a vehicle was expected to collect her. Thai authorities then moved in and arrested her.

The CSD said arrangements would be made to return Ms Wang to China, where she is expected to serve her prison sentence.
