Recent Facebook posts captured attention on Wednesday when they advertised an offer to sell part of Koh Kham Island along with incomplete resort houses in the eastern province of Trat for 1.8 billion baht.
A Facebook user named Apassara Sonsab claimed the “private island” for sale was Trat’s most exquisite island, bundled with unfinished resort homes.
The sale post detailed that the available area on the island spans approximately 10 rai, featuring pristine seawater, a sandy beach extending roughly 300 meters, and stunning volcanic rock formations.
Located about 35 kilometers from mainland Trat and merely one kilometer from Koh Mak, this island is a notable spot.
The Trat division of the Tourism Authority of Thailand clarified in response to the sale advertisements that visiting Koh Kham doesn’t require owning 1.8 billion baht; visitors can easily explore its volcanic rocks and coral reefs by motorboat or kayak from Koh Mak amidst beautiful vistas.
The agency noted that Koh Kham was once a volcanic crater formed hundreds of millions of years ago.
Back in 2014, the landowner faced legal charges for encroaching on forest and marine areas by constructing a 148-meter-long bridge, a 480-meter embankment, and engaging in land reclamation.
Nol Suwatchananont, president of the Koh Mak administrative organization, mentioned that the 10-rai parcel on Koh Kham has been sold multiple times.
He revealed that a restaurateur from Chon Buri holds the current land title, and the intention to sell is genuine.
