Authorities have seized nearly 70 million baht in cash and luxury assets and arrested a man allegedly running a major illegal gambling website from a luxury home in Khlong Luang district of Pathum Thani.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) raided the residence in Khlong Nueng on Wednesday following an investigation that linked the property to the gambling website Auto888vip.com. The raid was conducted under a warrant issued by the Pathum Thani Provincial Court.
Pol Lt Gen Trairong Piewpan, CCIB commissioner, said officers arrested a 30-year-old man identified as Thaweesak Prayoonnikorn.
He is accused of launching the Auto888vip platform two years ago and managing its financial operations, including handling profits and cash withdrawals.
During the search, police confiscated high-value assets including a Mercedes-Benz CLS53 worth 5 million baht, a BMW M4 valued at 10 million baht, and 28.5 million baht in cash.
Officers also seized luxury watches and branded goods, with the total value of assets exceeding 70 million baht.
Titles to a house and land worth another 7 million baht were frozen to support the ongoing investigation.
According to Pol Lt Gen Trairong, Auto888vip.com had approximately 3,000 active user accounts each month and recorded monthly cash withdrawals of around 20 million baht over the past six months.
The investigation into the site’s operations is ongoing, with further arrests expected.
Pol Maj Gen Chatpanthakarn Khlaikhlueng, commander of CCIB division 3, confirmed that Thaweesak frequently withdrew gambling proceeds from ATMs during nighttime hours, typically between 10pm and 5am. He allegedly stored the cash inside the house, hidden in a safe or packed in travel bags.
Police say the raid and arrest mark a significant step in dismantling the financial network behind the illegal gambling platform.
