Thailand Ranks Among World’s Top 5 Solo Travel Destinations

Thailand has achieved a notable distinction this year, securing the fifth spot globally as a preferred destination for solo travelers.

This ranking comes from a comprehensive survey conducted by Kensington, a luxury travel service platform. The survey, which encompassed opinions from affluent travelers, was jointly undertaken with Opinium Research and Dig Insight.

India claimed the top position in the survey, followed by Italy, Japan, and Egypt, with Thailand rounding out the top five.

The announcement was made by Deputy Government Spokesman Anukul Prueksanusak, who highlighted the broad appeal of Thailand among various tourist demographics, particularly solo travelers.

Mr. Anukul noted the growing trend among solo travelers toward destinations that offer a rich tapestry of cultural significance and unique natural landscapes, combined with the freedom to explore independently.

“Solo travelers are increasingly choosing destinations with deep cultural significance and unique landscapes balanced with independence and seamless, personalized service,” said Matt Cammaert, senior vice-president of marketing at Kensington.

“They want the freedom to explore at their own pace while enjoying expert guidance, exclusive access, and curated itineraries that reflect their interests,” he stated.

Thailand’s appeal, as described by Mr. Anukul, stems from its safety, cultural diversity, and convenient travel logistics.

“Thailand is charming with a mixture of ancient and modern cultures, including local food, local ways of living, and a warm welcome from Thais that serve as a magnet for solo travelers,” he said.

Looking ahead, the government plans to leverage Thailand’s favorable ranking to further enhance its tourism sector. During the upcoming Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025, initiatives will focus on promoting high-quality tourism experiences.
