Thailand To Host Asia’s Biggest Gaming Event in October 2025

The Thai government has confirmed it will host Asia’s largest gaming event in October 2025, a move aimed at strengthening the country’s gaming industry, which is valued at more than 34 billion baht.

Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Jiraporn Sindhuprai, together with Surapong Suebwonglee, chairman of the National Soft Power Development Committee, and related agencies, attended Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany.

The world’s biggest gaming fair took place at Koelnmesse from August 20–24.

The opening ceremony was led by Dorothee Bär, Germany’s Federal Minister of Research, Technology and Space. This year, Thailand was named official partner country at Gamescom 2025, granting it a prime-location Thailand Pavilion for the first time.

The pavilion showcased games from 15 Thai developers, each integrating Thai cultural themes to capture international attention.

Jiraporn said the event also opened doors for Thai developers to build global partnerships. Among the highlights was the Cologne Business Mixer, a B2B platform co-hosted by the Thai government to connect developers with international companies.

Gamescom continues to hold the title of the world’s largest gaming showcase. In 2024, it welcomed more than 335,000 visitors and featured over 1,400 game studios worldwide.

Thailand’s partner country role underscored its growing influence in the gaming sector, offering local developers a global platform to showcase their talent.

Globally, the gaming market was valued at US$272.86 billion in 2024 and is projected to rise to US$426 billion by 2029, driven by rapid advances in technology, the surge of e-sports, and mobile gaming expansion.

Thailand’s gaming industry alone generated 34.28 billion baht (about US$979.66 million) in 2023, accounting for 77.5% of the nation’s digital content sector.

In October 2025, Thailand will host “Gamescom Asia × Thailand Game Show 2025” at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok. Running from October 16–19, the event will span over 30,000 square metres and is expected to attract more than 200,000 visitors.

The exhibition will feature both B2C and B2B areas, along with e-sports tournaments, an indie game showcase, cosplay competitions, and a variety of entertainment activities, drawing participants from across Asia and beyond.
