Thailand Vows To Bring F1 Event To Boost Tourism and Economy

The Thai government has pledged to bring a Formula 1 (F1) racing event to the country as part of efforts to drive economic growth.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced on X that the government is moving forward with discussions to host the F1 event as part of a major initiative to boost tourism.

She stated that the government will do everything possible to secure the event, highlighting that the project will attract tourists, create excitement, and pave the way for city expansion and urban development.

“It will generate new income, stimulate the economy, and promote Thailand as a world-class destination,” she wrote.

The government is also planning a series of tourism promotion campaigns for the year-end season, with a target of 7.5% growth in revenue.

Karom Phonphonklang, deputy government spokesman, said on Saturday that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports is aiming to boost tourism with the “72 Styles of Happiness to Experience” campaign. This includes an e-book featuring must-do activities along Thailand’s 72 highlighted routes.

The activities offer a fresh perspective on Thailand, with each route providing a checklist of “Five Must-Do” activities. These include local dishes to try, adventurous experiences, unique items to purchase, scenic views to enjoy, and local lifestyles to discover.

Five influencers will also create travel vlogs, sharing their experiences on different routes to spark interest in year-end tourism and maintain momentum into the next year.

Meanwhile, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is promoting “Thai charm” and key cities to encourage travel across all five regions of the country.

The aim is to increase year-round travel frequency and visitors’ spending in various provinces while supporting sustainable tourism, Mr. Karom explained.
