Toll Fees Waived on Key Routes for Smoother Songkran Travel

Toll fees will be waived on five expressways and two motorways during the Songkran holidays to facilitate smoother travel as residents depart Bangkok for their hometowns.

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) and the Highways Department have decided to offer free passage on five expressways and two motorways throughout the extended Songkran break.

Additionally, two motorways that have not yet been officially opened will be accessible during this period to accommodate the heavy outbound traffic expected from Bangkok to various provinces.

The first of these is the M81 motorway, stretching from Bang Yai district in Nonthaburi to Kanchanaburi.

Although construction is complete, the installation of systems and toll gates is pending. Motorists will be able to travel on this route without charge during the Songkran holidays.

The second is the M6 motorway, linking the Bang Pa-in district in Ayutthaya with Nakhon Ratchasima. While construction is only partially finished, a section from Hin Kong in Saraburi to the Nakhon Ratchasima bypass road will be open for use during the holidays.

EXAT has scheduled toll-free travel on its five expressways during two distinct periods as detailed below:

From April 11 to April 17:

– Burapha Withi Expressway (Bang Na–Chonburi)

– Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Pli–Suksawat)

From April 13 to April 15:

– Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway (First Stage Expressway)

– Si Rat Expressway (Second Stage Expressway)

– Udon Ratthaya Expressway (Bang Pa-in–Pak Kret)

The Highways Department has announced that toll fees will also be waived for two motorways from April 11 to April 17:

– M7 Motorway (Bangkok–Ban Chang district, Rayong)

– M9 Motorway (Kanchanaphisek Outer Ring Road: Bang Pa-in–Bang Pli and Phra Pradaeng–Bang Khun Thien)
