Two Chinese Men Arrested Over Theft on Macao-Bangkok Flight

Two Chinese passengers were arrested and charged with stealing cash from fellow travelers on a flight from Macao to Bangkok.

The individuals, identified as Han, aged 54, and Wang, aged 46, were taken into custody following the arrival of Air Macau flight NX996 at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Thursday, as reported by Pol Col Seksan Thiraruangrit from the Tourist Police Bureau.

The apprehension occurred after the airline alerted authorities about thefts occurring on board, with both individuals under suspicion.

Pol Col Seksan reported that one of the passengers witnessed Mr. Wang rifling through a backpack belonging to another traveler, known only as Trang, which was stored in the overhead bin, and removing a plastic bag filled with Thai baht.

Other passengers also observed Mr. Wang and Mr. Han frequently moving around the cabin, seemingly searching other bags.

Upon their suspicious behavior at the exit of the plane, police conducted a search of Mr. Wang and Mr. Han, finding 30,000 baht belonging to Mr. Trang.

Another traveler, identified as Ding from China, reported a loss of 50,000 baht during the flight, which was subsequently discovered in the possession of the two detained men.

The charges brought against them include theft in public places.

Air Macau flight NX996 was scheduled to depart from Macau at 7:40 AM local time and landed at Suvarnabhumi at 9:35 AM.

Airlines have issued warnings about the potential for theft during flights, advising passengers to always keep their valuables within reach.
