Police Hunt Foreigner in Video ‘Using Feet To Prepare Bread’

Thai authorities have started hunting a man of a foreign appearance who was filmed preparing bread with his feet.

On Tuesday, September 21, The Immigration Bureau’s spokesman Pol Col Phakkapong Sai-ubol told the media that his boss Pol Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang had ordered legal action against a man who appeared in a controversial video. He was reportedly using his feet to prepare bread for later sale, he added.

The video, released to the Immigration Bureau, allegedly showed a foreign national of unknown nationality putting his bare feet on the baked bread before packing it.

In response, the Immigration Bureau’s authorities said they would investigate the event and search for the suspect. However, it is not yet clear what charges the man could face for his actions.

A Naew Na report described the incident as disgusting, adding that Thais were outraged to see a person putting his feet on food that was about to be packaged.

Showing your feet’s bottom to someone or pointing your foot at another person is considered indecent in the kingdom, as they are the lowest body area and are farthest from the head, the cleanest part of a human being.

According to Asean Now, Thai people feel aversion towards the feet and usually insert them in officials’ mouths to mock them.

Internet users say the suspect does not appear to be Thai. Naew Na’s report went on to say that people had demanded local authorities find out if the foreigner remains legally in Thailand or if he has a work permit.

The Immigration Bureau also said they would do everything possible to solve the case and find the man who appeared in the disgusting video.

Local media also revealed yesterday that the Immigration Bureau’s authorities had launched a search in every corner of Bangkok to find the criminal.

Officials also urged concerned citizens to contact 1178 or visit the Immigration Bureau’s website if they have information about the man or recognize him.
