Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has refuted rumours of having a romantic relationship with the “beautiful” Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni following their appearance together at an awards ceremony in New York City.
At the Atlantic Council’s Global Citizen Awards dinner held in Midtown Manhattan’s Ziegfeld Ballroom, the billionaire, aged 53, and the 47-year-old far-right leader were seen intimately interacting, fueling speculation about a possible romantic connection.
However, Musk was quick to dismiss the speculation the following day.
“I was there with my Mom. There is no romantic relationship whatsoever with PM Meloni,” Musk tweeted in response to a post of the viral photograph of the pair with the caption: “We all know what happened next.”
At the formal event, Musk warmly introduced Meloni on stage at her request, praising her inner and outer beauty.
Describing Meloni, the owner of X and father to twelve children, called her “authentic, honest, and thoughtful,” adding humorously, “That’s more than can be said for most politicians.”
Meloni reciprocated with high praise for Musk, calling him a “precious genius,” and then proceeded to deliver a speech about nationalism and the challenges facing the Western world.
Throughout her speech, Musk showed his agreement by nodding and gave a standing ovation at its conclusion.
Both figures were strategically seated next to each other during the event, which coincided with the ongoing UN General Assembly week, and were observed engaging in deep conversation.
At one moment, captured in a video, Meloni was seen speaking animatedly to Musk, who leaned in closely to listen.
Since her election as Italy’s first female prime minister in 2022, Meloni has become a significant conservative presence in European politics.
Meloni ended her decade-long relationship with Andrea Giambruno in October 2023 following the emergence of a scandalous audio recording in which he inquired about a woman’s interest in a foursome.
This inappropriate conversation marked the breaking point for Meloni, who stated in a post on X that her relationship with Giambruno had been diverging for a while before she made the decision to end it.
According to The Telegraph, Musk and Meloni have previously met on multiple occasions.
Musk traveled to Rome last June to meet with the Italian prime minister at her official residence. He returned to Italy in December to attend a political event organized by Meloni’s far-right Brothers of Italy party.
During their meetings, they have explored their mutual concerns about the declining birth rates in the West and shared their positive views on the potential of artificial intelligence.
