Ben Affleck was spotted without his wedding ring for the first time amid rumours that his marriage to Jennifer Lopez is in trouble.
Photos surfaced showing the “Gone Girl” actor, aged 51, at his child’s recital on Saturday, where he was seen driving with his left hand exposed, revealing the absence of his wedding band.
This sighting without the ring adds to the speculation that Affleck and Lopez might be heading for a divorce.
This marks the first time Affleck has been spotted without his wedding ring since rumours of marital issues emerged earlier in the week.
Affleck was previously photographed on Thursday with Lopez and her teenager, Emme, where both he and Lopez were still wearing their rings.
The reasons behind Affleck removing his ring in the 24 hours following these photographs remain unclear, as neither he nor Lopez have commented on the divorce rumours.
Meanwhile, Lopez was spotted with a ring at a dance practice on Friday, but it was not confirmed whether it was her wedding ring.
On Friday, it was reported that Affleck has been actively looking for a new house in Los Angeles, according to local real estate sources.
Earlier in the week, reports also surfaced that Affleck had been staying in Brentwood, California, separately from Lopez, and not at the $60 million residence they purchased together.
Lopez has also been seen house hunting, although sources claim she is looking for an investment property, not a new home for herself.
Sources added fuel to the rumours on Thursday by telling Us Weekly that Lopez and Affleck are experiencing significant differences in their marriage.
The source disclosed that their marital issues began a few months ago as Lopez ramped up her work commitments in preparation for her upcoming tour.
Lopez is gearing up for her “This Is Me…Live | The Greatest Hits” tour set to begin in June, after facing challenges in selling tickets in certain U.S. cities, leading to the cancellation of some shows.
Affleck has begun filming for his movie “Accountant 2” in California. He was notably absent from this year’s Met Gala on May 6, which Lopez attended alone despite being one of the event’s co-chairs.
The couple, who initially married in Las Vegas and later held a formal ceremony in Georgia in 2022, have publicly discussed the challenges in their relationship, which reignited after a previous engagement many years ago.
In Lopez’s documentary “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” released in February, Affleck reflected on their past breakup, attributing it to intense public scrutiny.
Affleck shared his initial desire for privacy from the media upon their reunion, stating, “Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.’”
He added, realizing the impracticality of his request, “It’s like marrying a boat captain and saying, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.’”
Affleck concluded in the documentary, acknowledging their differing approaches, “We’re just two people with different approaches, trying to learn to compromise.”
