Brooklyn Beckham Felt Pressure Over Career Choices, Wife Nicola Peltz Says

Nicola Peltz Beckham has revealed that her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, has struggled to deal with the pressures linked to his career and famous last name.

Posing for the Tatler magazine’s cover, the Bates Motel star opened up about the professional struggles she and her husband, the son of world-famous soccer player David Beckham, have been through.

Nicola said Brooklyn had tried to break into professional football like his father but failed to secure a scholarship deal with London club Arsenal’s youth team at 15.

Brooklyn, who is also singer-actress Victoria Beckham’s first-born child, later began doing fashion photography, studying at Parsons School of Design, and working as a model. However, he later discovered that he had a talent for cooking.

The 23-year-old has recently appeared on a TV show where he shows off his culinary skills, but his wife says his career has been a burden for a long time.

Brooklyn felt “a lot of pressure to please people with his career and he didn’t love it,” Nicola explained.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Brooklyn launched the Facebook Watch program “Cookin’ with Brooklyn” to share his culinary knowledge with the public. Nicola says that cooking is her husband’s calling, saying that when he is cooking “he’s in heaven.”

Speaking to Tatler, she added: “Ever since the pandemic, all he’s wanted to talk about is being in the kitchen, so I just started filming him one day. I said, ‘This is what you love’.”

Brooklyn has a close relationship with his wife’s father, millionaire business mogul Nelson Peltz, Nicola stated, adding that her husband always looked to his dad for advice.

“Brooklyn is getting into very exciting things with his shows and it’s really sweet, I watch him call my dad and say, ‘What do you think about this?’ I love watching him learn from my dad,” she added.

During the conversation, the actress also opened up about her professional life’s highs and lows. The Transformers: Age of Extinction star said her parents had advised her not to let rejection upset her when she told them she wanted to pursue acting.

Nicola and Brooklyn engaged in July 2020 and were married on April 9, 2022, in Palm Beach, Florida.
