Jamie Foxx is currently recovering from injuries sustained during a disturbing incident at a Beverly Hills restaurant, where he was celebrating his 57th birthday on Friday, December 13.
The celebration was cut short when, according to his representative, someone from a nearby table threw a glass that struck him in the mouth. The matter has since been handed over to law enforcement.
The representative also noted that the injuries required stitches, emphasizing that Foxx is on the mend following the unsettling event.
The Beverly Hills Police Department responded to the incident at Mr. Chow, a luxurious Chinese restaurant, following reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon arrival, police discovered that a physical altercation had occurred between two parties but found no evidence of an assault with a deadly weapon. They provided no further details on what initiated the conflict.
Foxx’s representative confirmed to CBS News Los Angeles that he was at the restaurant for a celebratory event, although he was not specifically named by the police.
The call to the police was made at approximately 10:10 p.m.
Details on whether any arrests have been made remain unclear, with no additional information being released.
This incident follows Foxx’s disclosure during a Netflix special earlier this month about his hospitalization last April due to a serious health scare.
During the Netflix special this month, the actor shared with his audience that he had experienced a “brain bleed that led to a stroke.”
He recounted an incident where he suffered a severe headache and requested an aspirin, but before he could take it, he lost consciousness and does not recall the following 20 days.
At that time, his daughter Corinne Foxx mentioned that he had faced a “medical complication,” though specific details about his condition were not disclosed by the family.
The actor earned an Oscar for Best Actor in 2005 for his portrayal of musician Ray Charles in the film “Ray.” He received another nomination that year for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “Collateral.”
Among his other works are notable films like “Baby Driver,” “Annie,” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”
