Katy Perry Shares “Excitement” Ahead of Blue Origin Space Trip

Katy Perry is eagerly counting down to her space journey, set for later today. Last night, the singer posted a video sharing her anticipation for the upcoming adventure.

“I’ve dreamt of going to space for 15 years, and tomorrow that dream becomes a reality,” Perry shared in the video’s caption.

“The Taking Up Space Crew launches tomorrow morning at 7 AM CT, and I am so honored to be alongside five other incredible and inspiring women as we become the first-ever all-female spaceflight crew!”

In the video, Perry highlights her designated seat in the capsule, marked with “K. Perry,” and even sings a few lines, expressing her excitement about singing in space.

Perry mentioned that although she might typically say, “I can’t believe this is happening,” she actually does believe it. “Believing in your dreams and vocalizing them is how they come true,” she explained.

Perry is set to travel on Jeff Bezos’ space tourism venture, Blue Origin, aboard the New Shepard spacecraft.

The groundbreaking all-female crew includes broadcast journalist Gayle King, activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, entertainment reporter and Bezos’ fiancée Lauren Sánchez, and Aisha Bowe, a former NASA aerospace engineer.

This trip marks New Shepard’s 31st launch and its 11th manned suborbital flight.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Perry expressed her desire to inspire others through her experience.

“Every day I tell myself, ‘You are brave, you are bold, you are doing this for future generations to inspire a broad audience, but particularly young girls, to think, “I can go to space someday.” No limitations,’” she stated.

She also shared her excitement about the technical aspects: “I’m really excited about the engineering of it all. I’m excited to learn more about STEM and understand the math required to accomplish this type of thing.”
