Thai-born global superstar Lisa is set to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles next month, joining an international lineup of music icons that includes American pop icon Katy Perry.
The announcement was confirmed on Saturday by LLOUD, the entertainment company established by Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal, a member of the globally renowned K-pop sensation Blackpink.
“Happy to announce that LISA will be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony, the largest FIFA World Cup in history!” the label shared in an official statement.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino previously revealed that the ceremony, scheduled to take place in the United States on June 12, is expected to highlight the unprecedented scale and global appeal of the upcoming tournament.
The Los Angeles event is also set to feature performances from artists including Future, Anitta, Rema and Tyla, with additional acts expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
According to reports by The Korea Times, Lisa will also contribute to the tournament’s official soundtrack alongside Anitta, Rema and Brazilian electronic music collective Tropkillaz.
News of the performance sparked widespread excitement online, with Lisa’s dedicated fanbase, known as Lilies, along with Blackpink supporters, called Blinks, flooding social media with celebratory messages.
Thai media outlets likewise praised the achievement, noting that the 29-year-old singer from Buri Ram is poised to become the first Thai artist to perform at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony, further cementing her status as one of Thailand’s most internationally recognised entertainers.
The appearance adds yet another milestone to Lisa’s expanding solo career, which has continued to gain momentum following her high-profile performance alongside Doja Cat and Raye during a James Bond tribute segment at the 2025 Academy Awards.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, will feature a series of star-studded celebrations across all three host nations.
Mexico’s opening festivities on June 11 are expected to include performances by Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.
Meanwhile, Canada’s celebrations on June 12 will feature a lineup that includes Colombian superstar J Balvin, legendary Mexican rock band Maná, and acclaimed Mexican singer Alejandro Fernández, son of the late ranchera legend Vicente Fernández.
