Prince Harry and Meghan Markle received a royal welcome at Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night, but not everyone was pleased about it.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted in plush front-row seats as the Los Angeles Dodgers faced the Toronto Blue Jays at Dodger Stadium. The couple joined the action wearing matching Dodgers caps and smiling for cameras as they settled in behind the pitch clock.
However, some fans were less than impressed when it emerged that Harry and Meghan were seated ahead of Los Angeles sports icons Sandy Koufax and Magic Johnson.
The two legends, both revered in the city’s sporting history, were placed in the second row, directly behind the royal couple.
It remains unclear whether Harry and Meghan, who live in Los Angeles, paid for their tickets or were invited as VIP guests. Major League Baseball’s official X account highlighted their arrival, posting a slow-motion clip of Meghan waving to fans as she entered the stadium.
“Prince Harry and his wife sitting IN FRONT of Sandy Koufax? Un-fn-real,” one fan wrote in disbelief. Another added, “Why the hell are they in front of Sandy?” while a third remarked, “Sandy Koufax is the only royalty I see in this picture.”
Koufax, known as “The Left Arm of God,” pitched for the Dodgers from 1955 to 1966, winning four World Series titles and earning seven All-Star nods. Magic Johnson, meanwhile, is a five-time NBA champion with the Lakers and now a part-owner of the Dodgers.
Despite the star-studded attendance, it was a rough night for the home team. After an exhausting 18-inning marathon in Game 3, the Dodgers looked fatigued as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led the Blue Jays to a 6–2 victory, tying the series 2–2.
Game 5 will take place tonight at Dodger Stadium before the matchup heads back to Toronto for Game 6 on Friday.
“We knew it was going to be a great series,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “This team is talented, they’re resilient, and they came back fighting.”
