Rebel Wilson Reveals Her Managers Opposed Weight Loss

Rebel Wilson said that those close to her were not supportive when she began her journey to improve her health, revealing that her management was opposed to her losing weight due to her role as a “funny fat girl.”

The 41-year-old Australian actress decided to join the fitness world in 2019, losing more than 35 kg since then. However, during a recent interview with BBC News, she opened up about some negative comments she received as she began her “year of health.”

Wilson said her management was worried about how her body image had impacted her career since playing a “funny fat girl” in several hit movies like Pitch Perfect or Bridesmaids had earned her a fortune estimated at $22 million.

“I got a lot of pushback from my own team actually, here in Hollywood, when I said ‘Okay, I’m going to do this year of health, I feel like I’m really gonna physically transform and change my life,'” she recalled.

“And they were like, ‘Why? Why would you wanna do that?’ Because I was earning millions of dollars being the funny fat girl and being that person,” Wilson went on.

The Hollywood star claimed she loved herself and was always comfortable with her weight but admitted that she had had some issues with her unhealthy “emotional eating” habits. Wilson explained that food had become a defense mechanism that she used to deal with her emotions as she struggled to boost her acting career.

“I knew deep down inside that some of the emotional eating behavior’s I was doing was not healthy. Like I did not need a tub of ice cream every night. That was not, that was me kind of numbing emotions using food, which wasn’t the healthiest thing,” she stated.

In November, the comedian announced that she had reached her weight goal of 75 kg. People magazine said the actress had used the Mayr Method diet plan for her remarkable transformation.

A source reportedly told People that Wilson had “amazing results” during a health and wellness retreat in Austria last year, as she changed her eating habits.

The source added that she is still following the plan and has a personal trainer to exercise up to six times a week.
