Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco Marry in Star-Studded Event

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are officially married. The pair said “I do” on Saturday evening in Santa Barbara, California, during a wedding that blended intimacy with star-studded glamour.

Gomez, who announced her engagement to Blanco in December 2024, confirmed the nuptials herself through Instagram, posting a series of photos and videos captioned “9.27.25.” The images showed the couple celebrating their union with candid affection and elegance.

The bride appeared radiant in a custom hand-draped satin halter-neck gown adorned with embroidery, her look completed with a bouquet of lily of the valley. Blanco kept it classic in a black tuxedo and bow tie, as the two posed together in tender embraces.

One video shared on social media featured the newlyweds skipping hand-in-hand across a grassy field, laughing as they turned back toward the camera. Another captured Gomez carefully fixing her husband’s bow tie before they leaned in to kiss, an intimate gesture that delighted fans.

As congratulatory messages poured in from fellow celebrities and fans, Blanco joined in with a short but heartfelt comment: “my wife in real life.”

The ceremony itself took place at the lush Sea Crest Nursery, where about 170 family members and close friends gathered, Vogue reported. The couple’s guest list reflected their wide circle of celebrity connections.

Among those in attendance were Taylor Swift, Paul Rudd, Paris Hilton, Ed Sheeran, Ashley Park, and Gomez’s “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin. David Henrie, Gomez’s longtime friend and co-star from “Wizards of Waverly Place,” was also present.

Meryl Streep, who appeared alongside Gomez in “Only Murders” and is romantically linked to Short, was expected at the celebration but did not attend.

A source told the Daily Mail that Streep was “planning to attend but told Selena she now won’t be able to.” No further reason for her absence was provided.

Gomez’s once-close friend Nicola Peltz and her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, were also not present. Their absence fueled ongoing rumors of a rift, though a source told Page Six that Peltz is currently in “pre-production for a very rigorous film shoot” that prevented her from traveling.

Ahead of the big day, guests stayed at the luxury El Encanto hotel in Santa Barbara, where rooms run $3,500 per night.

Owned by Tinder co-founder Justin Mateen, the property became a hub for the wedding party. Martin and Short were spotted at the retreat on Friday, just before the rehearsal dinner.

The rehearsal itself was hosted at a mansion inside Hope Ranch, a private coastal enclave in Santa Barbara County.

The wedding comes nearly a year after Gomez and Blanco confirmed their engagement. Gomez, 33, and Blanco, 37, began dating in 2023 and announced their engagement in December 2024 after a year together.

“Forever begins now,” Gomez captioned her Instagram post at the time, proudly showing her diamond engagement ring. Blanco chimed in on the post with his own declaration: “Hey wait… that’s my wife.”

In August, Gomez enjoyed a bachelorette getaway in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where she was joined by close friends Raquelle Stevens, Ashley Cook, and Courtney Lopez. The singer and actress shared playful photos and videos from the sun-soaked trip.

Earlier this year, Gomez released her fourth studio album, “I Said I Love You First,” with Blanco as her creative partner. The collaboration marked a personal and professional milestone for the pair.

Blanco later revealed that his proposal nearly went off track. “It was the sickest surprise that she had no idea about, and it couldn’t have come at a better time because I was starting to f–k up,” he said in an interview with Interview magazine in February.

“The thing that makes me so crazy is, you’re getting engaged, and right before, they’re like, ‘Show me how good of a liar you are. Sneak around and try to do this perfect thing without me knowing,’” he explained.

“At the end, she was starting to get upset because she was like, ‘Why aren’t you coming home tonight?’” Blanco recalled. “And I was like, ‘Oh, I’m just at my friends.’ I almost did it early. But I nailed it, I think.”

For her part, Gomez has spoken openly about working creatively with Blanco and how the relationship has shaped her music.

“The fact that he listened to me,” the Rare Beauty founder said when asked what she appreciated most about their collaboration.

“Sometimes it’s difficult for me to speak up. Most of my anxiety right now is wanting him to speak because I feel like he’s more talented than I am in this field.”

She compared working with him to teaming up with a seasoned filmmaker. “Whether we were together or not, I think he still would’ve listened to everything that I had to say, and he was able to almost transcribe it into music, into what the feeling of what I was talking about should be,” she explained.

The singer also reflected on how their romance first began. “We got in the studio to work on a song and we just talked,” Gomez recalled. “That’s how easy it was for me. I liked him before he liked me.”

Blanco admitted he initially had no idea Gomez was interested in him. “We were in the session, and I was like, ‘You should meet some of my friends. I can hook you up with some dates,’” he said.

“I hadn’t thought about it at all. And then we were texting afterwards, and we decided to get dinner the next day.”

“I guess she thought it was a date, and I had no idea it was a date,” he laughed. “The second time we hung out, our second date, I was like, ‘Wait, does she like me?’ I was clueless.”

But once he realized how strong the connection was, Blanco said it became obvious she was the one. “You know, when you think you’ve met the right person, you’re like, ‘Oh, my God.’ But it feels so different,” he gushed.

“The second we started hanging out, I was like, ‘This is my wife.’ I was telling my mom, ‘This is the girl I’m going to marry.’”
