Taylor Swift, 36, is set to become the second-youngest songwriter ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the organisation announced on Wednesday. She follows Stevie Wonder, who was 33 when he was inducted in 1983.
The honour places the pop superstar — a 14-time Grammy winner — among an elite group of songwriters whose work has shaped popular music across generations.
Swift will be inducted alongside Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, and Kiss bandmates Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on 11 June at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York, the organisation said during an announcement on CBS Mornings.
“They’ve literally written the soundtrack to our lives. The songs we dance to, cry to and rock out to,” culture correspondent Anthony Mason said on CBS Mornings while revealing the list of inductees.
Established in 1969, the Songwriters Hall of Fame recognises writers with a significant body of work. Eligible songwriters must have released their first commercially successful song at least 20 years before induction.
The “Bad Blood” singer has won four Grammy awards for album of the year. Her most recent album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” recorded the highest first-week sales of any album in the modern era, according to Billboard, citing data from music analytics firm Luminate.
In May 2025, Swift announced that she had regained ownership of her music catalogue after purchasing the rights to her master recordings, including her first six albums.
Later that year, her record-breaking Eras tour was adapted into a concert film and a six-part documentary series, chronicling the scale and success of the global tour on Disney+.
Swift’s 2024 album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and went on to sell the equivalent of eight million albums in the United States, according to Luminate.
