Top Korean Actress Kim Mi Soo Sadly Passes Away Aged 29

South Korean actress Kim Mi-soo, known for her role on the popular Disney+ series “Snowdrop,” has suddenly died at 29.

Kim’s agency Landscape shared a statement announcing her death on Wednesday, saying: “Kim suddenly left us on January 5. The bereaved are deep in their sorrow at the sudden sadness.”

“We sincerely ask you to refrain from making up rumors or speculative reports so that the bereaved family, who are in shock and grief-stricken, can reverently commemorate the deceased,” the statement read.

However, the cause for her unexpected death was not disclosed. Kim’s agent asked for privacy to help her relatives to mourn in peace, adding: “As per her family’s wishes, the funeral will be held quietly in private.”

Kim Mi-soo, also written Kim Misu, gained popularity for her role in Snowdrop, where she plays a student activist named Yeo Jeongmin.

In the series, Yeo Jeongmin is a fourth-year history student who shares a dorm with Young-ro, the main character played by Blackpink’s singer Jisoo.

Snowdrop, produced by JTBC Studios and Drama House, airs on the JTBC’s Network in Korea. It has also been available on Disney+ Korea as a “Disney Plus Originals” title since it premiered on the platform last month amid the streaming giant’s expansion into the Asia-Pacific region.

The show is a romantic drama set in 1987 during the pro-democracy movement’s backdrop and has sparked fierce controversy for its historical accuracy and depiction of North Koreans. It is Kim’s last acting credit before her death.

The star also had a role in the Netflix drama Hellbound, which surpassed Squid Game after becoming the most-watched show on the streaming platform in November last year, and appeared in two 2019 South Korean films, “Memories” and “Kyungmi’s World.”

According to Korean media, Kim’s acting credits also include JTBC’s drama series “Human Luwak,” “Hi Bye, Mama!” from tvN, and “Into the Ring” (2020) on KBS.

Although she was born on March 16, 1992, many considered her to be 31 years old when she passed away due to different calculation methods.

After her death was confirmed, fans took to social media to pay tribute to the actress. “We are deeply saddened by the news of Kim Mi-soo passing away at the age of 31. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,” one user wrote.
