Belgium Beats Denmark and Qualifies for the Last 16

On Thursday, Belgium defeated Denmark 1-2 at the Parke Stadion (in Copenhagen) in an entertaining match. The team coached by Roberto Martinez pulled off an outstanding comeback to seal their ticket to the next round of EURO 2020.

Things had started in the worst possible way for the visitors. In the second minute, the Belgian defence made a naive mistake that allowed Hojbjerg to deliver a lethal pass to Yussuf Poulsen for him to slot home the first goal of the match.

In the 54th minute, Romelu Lukaku laid the ball off to Kevin De Bruyne, who, after a fancy move to throw the defenders off the ball, made a great assist for Thorgan Hazard, who scored the equaliser.

In the 70th minute, in the middle of a coordinated Belgium team move, Eden Hazard played a great pass to De Bruyne and the midfielder scored the winning goal.

With this result, the Belgians are undisputed leaders of Group B with six points and a goal difference of +4.

Russia are, for the moment, second thanks to their three points and their head-to-head win over Finland (who have the same number of points). Denmark are at the bottom with 0 points.

In the day’s other matches, Ukraine defeated North Macedonia 2-1, while the Netherlands beat Austria 1-0.
