Denmark Tears Wales Apart To Advance to the Quarter-Finals

On Saturday, Denmark put the ghosts of their lacklustre group stage performance to bed with a 4-0 win over Wales in their EURO 2020 Round of 16 match.

For their part, Wales saw their journey in the tournament come to an end, being unable to reach the semi-finals again as they did five years ago.

In the 27th minute, Damsgaard played the ball to Kasper Dolgberg, who found his space and with a precise shot from outside the box scored his team’s first goal.

In the 48th minute, Martin Braithwaite dribbled past a defender and sent in a low cross, then a poor clearance by Neco Williams sent the ball to the feet of Dolberg, who fired in a powerful shot to make it 2-0.

In the 88th minute, Matthias Jensen sent a long pass to Joakim Maehle, who controlled the ball, took his time and with an unstoppable shot scored to make it 3-0.

In stoppage time, Andreas Cornelius fed the ball to Braithwiate, who eluded a defender and scored the fourth goal.

Denmark will thus face either the Netherlands or the Czech Republic in the next round.

On the other hand, Italy defeated Austria 2-1 in a thrilling match that went into extra time and will face either Belgium or Portugal in the quarter-finals.
