Is Xavi the Right Man To Be the Next Barcelona Manager?

The inevitable finally happened as Barcelona decided to part ways with manager Ronald Koeman after Saturday’s loss to Rayo Vallecano with the only goal by Radamel Falcao.

This loss stuck Barcelona in ninth place in La Liga standings and puts in jeopardy the Champions League qualification for next year which will be an even more painful financial kick for the Catalans.

Barca has won only two of their last seven league games under Koeman, a run that included losing to Real Madrid in Sunday’s ‘El Clasico’ at Camp Nou.

Pressure had been building on the Dutchman since a 3-0 defeat against Benfica in Lisbon in late September, which made this season the club’s worst-ever start to a Champions League campaign.

Barcelona’s former midfielder Xavi Hernandez, who is currently in charge of Qatari club Al Sadd, is the top candidate to take over Koeman’s job.

The fans are excited to see the team’s legend on the Barcelona bench, and Xavi has also received huge support from his former teammate Leo Messi.

Xavi played the prime of his career under Pep Guardiola in Barcelona and his Qatari team has played a similar style.

If he can replicate that into this squad at Camp Nou the fans will definitely be pleased and the club back on the winning track.

Currently, Barcelona is packed with young talent which would be great for Xavi because he will have a chance to implement his way of play which is perfectly suitable for the current roster.

Anyway, Barcelona is not in a situation to be active as a buyer and they desperately need a coach who can do a great job with the personnel that is already there.

Guardiola did the same with him, Messi and Iniesta, so Xavi will have to hope to do so with Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati and Yusuf Demir.
