Led by a Brilliant Vinicius, Real Madrid Destroy Liverpool

On Tuesday, Real Madrid showed an excellent performance and beat Liverpool 3-1 in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League 2020/2021. Zinedine Zidane’s men were superior and imposed their style of play on the pitch at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.

In the 27th minute, Toni Kroos sent a long and precise pass to Vinicius Jr, the Brazilian controlled the ball with his chest and with an exquisite finish scored the first goal of the match.

Less than 10 minutes later, Trent Alexander-Arnold made a rare mistake and headed the ball to Marco Asensio, leaving him in a great position to score. The Spaniard eluded Alisson Becker with an elegant touch and once in front of the open goal had no trouble increasing the home side’s lead.

In the 51st minute, Mohamed Salah collected a rebound from Diogo Jota’s deflected shot to score Liverpool’s only goal.

But in the 65th minute, Luka Modric gave a great pass to Vinicius who scored his team’s third goal with a powerful shot. The second leg will take place on 14 April at Anfield Road.

In other results, Manchester City claimed a narrow 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund thanks to goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, while Marco Reus scored for the German side.
