Liverpool Dismantle Crystal Palace in Comfortable 3-0 Win

Liverpool won their fourth game in the fifth round of this season’s Premier League fixtures with a convincing 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday.

Sadio Mane scored his 100th goal for the Jurgen Klopp’s side in the victory against over the South Londoners.

Liverpool ran the pace against the resilient Palace side before Mane pounced on a rebound at the back post two minutes before half-time.

Mohamed Salah doubled their lead with just over 10 minutes before the final whistle when he smashed home a flick-on from a corner. Naby Keita’s curling strike in the 89th minute rounded off the emphatic 3-0 win.

Liverpool could have got the job done much earlier but missed many scoring opportunities, such as when Diogo Jota fired over the bar from a few yards out.

Palace had started the game offensively with one effort hitting the post, but in the end the hosts’ persistence did pay off with the thumping victory.

In the end, it was a comfortable win that capped a successful week for Liverpool, following their dramatic 3-2 win over AC Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday at home.

With this win, the Reds are on top of the standings with 4 wins and one draw in front of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton who all have three points less.

The special day for Sadio Mane, scoring his 100th goal for Liverpool in all competitions, is one that will be fondly remembered by the Senegalese winger.

Wilfried Zaha made his 250th Premier League appearance but failed to score for Palace. Fabinho and debutant Ibrahima Konate put in strong defensive shifts for Liverpool to deny the Ivory Coast striker.

“I told the boys after the game this was one of the most hard-fought 3-0 wins I ever saw, we had to give it absolutely everything. Today we were not brilliant, but we were good,” said Klopp after the game.

In other results from Saturday, Manchester City failed to shoot on target until the last minute to play only 0-0 against Southampton.

Southampton were awarded a penalty on the hour mark when Kyle Walker was sent off but both decisions were overturned after VAR intervened and referee Jon Moss watched replays of the incident.

Arsenal went on the road to Burnley and came away with a 1-0 win thanks to Martin Odegaard’s free kick at Turf Moor, to get their season well and truly back on track after their extremely poor start.
