New Spurs Manager Nuno on Harry Kane: “He’s Our Player”

Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager Nuno Espiritu Santo has made clear a fact that is obvious, but at the same time, seems to go unnoticed by many: as of today, Harry Kane is still a player at the club.

“Harry is our player. Period. No need to talk about anything else, I am looking forward to him joining the group,” the manager stated to reporters on Friday emphatically.

There is a great deal of speculation regarding the future of England’s captain, who believes he has a gentleman’s agreement in place to depart the club this summer.

The 27-year-old said at the start of the recent Euro 2020 tournament that his future would be decided once it was over.

However, Nuno is not giving up hope of convincing him to stay and he will speak to the player when he resumes training with the team.

Kane is currently on holiday after guiding England to the final of Euro 2020, which they lost in a penalty shootout to Italy.

“Now is the moment for him to recover his energy and rest. Then we can speak,” said the new Portuguese coach.

Manchester City have reportedly made a $130m bid for Kane, which so far has not been confirmed by either club.

Meanwhile, Nuno also revealed on Friday that Wales captain Gareth Bale will not be at the club this season.

He spent last season on loan from Real Madrid, where he will return for the final year of his contract.
