Spain Draw 0-0 With Stubborn Sweden in Euro 2020 Clash

On Monday, the Spain national team had a bitter Euro 2020 debut as they drew 0-0 against Sweden at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville.

Although Luis Enrique’s men had several chances to score, their lack of accuracy cost them two points in Group E.

In the 16th minute, Koke sent a pinpoint cross into the box and Dani Olmo almost put Spain ahead with an accurate header, but goalkeeper Robin Olsen prevented it.

A mistake by Marcus Danielsson left Alvaro Morata one-on-one with Olsen, but his shot went just wide of the right-hand post.

Alexander Isaak had Sweden’s clearest chance of the game. The striker unleashed a powerful shot that beat goalkeeper Simon, but Marcos Llorente managed to clear the ball and then it bounced off the right-hand post.

In the 90th minute, Pablo Sarabia sent a cross into the box and Gerard Moreno almost scored with a header, but Olsen made a sublime save.

Due to this draw, Spain and Sweden share second place in Group E with one point. Slovakia is at the top of the group with three points and Poland is at the bottom with no points.

In the day’s other results, Scotland lost 2-0 to the Czech Republic at Hampden Park, while Slovakia pulled off a surprise 2-1 win over Poland in St Petersburg.
