Spectacle: Germany Humbles Portugal and Revives Their EURO Hopes

On Saturday, Germany defeated Portugal 4-2 at the Allianz Arena. The match was entertaining, full of goals and served to silence the murmurs that hinted at an early exit for Joachim Low’s team.

It was a difficult start for the Germans. In the 15th minute, they suffered a lethal counter attack which ended in a deadly pass from Diogo Jota to Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored the first goal of the match.

Twenty minutes later, Robin Gosens sent in a powerful cross and the ball deflected off Ruben Dias before ending up in the back of the net.

Four minutes later, Guerreiro scored another own goal when trying to clear a low cross from Kimmich.

In the 51st minute, Gosens sent in a low cross for Havertz, who made it 3-1.

Nine minutes later, Gosens himself made it 4-1 with a header, while Jota scored Portugal’s consolation goal after an impossible pass from Cristiano.

In other results, Hungary held France to a surprise 1-1 draw, while Spain drew 1-1 with Poland.

France is the new leader of Group F with 4 points; Germany and Portugal have the same number of points (3), but the Germans own the second place due to the direct confrontation between the two teams.

Meanwhile, Hungary are at the bottom with 1 point.
