Djokovic Beats Berrettini To Lift 20th Grand Slam Trophy

This Sunday, Novak Djokovic reached (once again) the ultimate tennis glory. He defeated Matteo Berrettini to win his sixth Wimbledon title.

Despite the Italian’s dignified performance, the world number one showed no mercy and claimed a valuable 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 6-4 6-3 victory that not only allowed him to retain this title for the third consecutive edition, but also allowed him to equal Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s record of 20 Grand Slam tournaments.

The start of the match was easy for Djokovic, he broke for 3-1 and then built a 5-2 lead. However, he missed a set point in the eighth game and Berrettini broke back in the tenth to level it at 5-5.

A tie-break had to be contested and Berrettini surprised Djokovic to take the first set.

In the second set, Djokovic was a beast and took a 5-1 lead. Although Berrettini managed to close the gap to 5-4, the Serb leveled the match.

In the third set, ‘Nole’ was patient and, despite having the crowd against him, had the mental fortitude to win key points at crucial moments

In the deciding set, the Serb broke at 3-3 and took a slight lead that he would not waste.

So far this season, Djokovic one has won all three Grand Slams and seems unstoppable.
